Having laid the foundations of faith and warrants to believe, it is now necessary to consider what fruits must be evident to validate the existence of true saving faith. These four things are indispensable:
The believer must be soundly convicted in his judgment of the obligation to keep the whole Moral Law all the days of his life. And that not the less, but so much the more as he is delivered by Christ from the Covenant of Works and curse of the Law.
The believer must endeavor to grow in the exercise and daily practice of godliness and righteousness.
The course of the believer’s growing obedience must come from the right sources, namely through faith in Christ and through a good conscience for all the duties of love toward God and people.
The believer must maintain solid communion with the source of grace, Christ Jesus, from Whom grace must be conveyed to produce the believer’s good fruits.
