Romans 5:12, 15–19  (ESV)                    Back

12Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—

15But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. 16And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. 17For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. 18Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.

Romans 5:12, 15-19  (KJ3)                    Back

12 Because of this, even as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death passed to all men, inasmuch as all sinned.

15 But not as the deviation, so also is the free gift. For if by the deviation of the one the many died, much more the grace of God, and the gift in grace, which is of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to the many.

16 And the gift is not as through one having sinned; for indeed the judgment was of one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many deviations to justification.

17 For if by the deviation of the one death reigned through the one, much more the ones receiving the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by the One, Jesus Christ.

18 So therefore, as through one deviation came to all men to condemnation, so also through one effected righteousness came to all men to justification of life.

19 For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were constituted sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many shall be constituted righteous.

Romans 5:12, 15–19  (NASB95)                    Back

12Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—

15But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. 16The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification. 17For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. 18So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. 19For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.

Romans 5:12, 15-19  (WEB)                    Back

12 Therefore as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; so death passed to all men, because all sinned.

15 But the free gift isn’t like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.

16 The gift is not as through one who sinned: for the judgment came by one to condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses to justification.

17 For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.

18 So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life.

19 For as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.

Romans 7:14, 17–18, 23  (ESV)                    Back

14For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.

17So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 18For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

23but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

Romans 7:14, 17-18, 23  (KJ3)                    Back

14¶ For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, having been sold under sin.

17 But now I no longer fully work it, but the sin dwelling in me.

18 For I know that in me, that is in my flesh, dwells no good. For to will is present to me, but to fully work the good I do not find.

23 but I see another law in my members warring against the law of my mind, and taking me captive by the law of sin being in my members.

Romans 7:14, 17–18, 23  (NASB95)                    Back

14For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.

23but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.

Romans 7:5, 7–8, 25  (ESV)                    Back

5For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.

7What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 8But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead.

25Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Romans 7:5, 7-8, 25  (KJ3)                    Back

5 For when we were in the flesh, the passions of sin were working in our members through the law for the bearing of fruit unto death.

7¶ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Let it not be! But I did not know sin if not through law; for also I did not know lusting if not the law said, “You shall not lust.”

8 But sin taking opportunity through the commandment worked every lust in me; for apart from law, sin is dead.

25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then I myself with the mind truly serve the Law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

Romans 7:5, 7–8, 25  (NASB95)                    Back

5For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.

7What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 8But sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind; for apart from the Law sin is dead.

25Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

Romans 7:5, 7-8, 25  (WEB)                    Back

5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law, worked in our members to bring out fruit to death.

7           What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting, unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

8 But sin, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law, sin is dead.

25 I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God’s law, but with the flesh, sin’s law.
